Today we live in a world where terrorism, the actions of unstable people, and the dangerous impulses of friends and relatives are very real and becoming increasingly more frequent. Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a response is delayed can result in death. Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, 酱, 和止血带止血. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes.

The Rape Aggression Defense Basic Personal Defense System is a national program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques taught for women only. All courses are taught by nationally certified RAD Instructors. OUPD is proud to offer the following RAD classes:

Skywarn training sessions are held to train individuals on how to accurately observe such weather phenomena as floods, 冰雹, wind and its associated damage, cloud features that lead to tornadoes, and those cloud features that do not lead to tornadoes. Basic severe weather safety is also covered.

Classes are taught by the National Weather Service, they are FREE and last 1.5个小时. While new technology and scientific tools have advanced the National Weather Service's capability to predict severe weather, trained spotters remain essential to our warning process. It goes without saying that the more trained "eyes" we have in the field during a severe weather event, the better our service to the public will be.

OU Police welcomes community and student organizations for tours of the police station. Presentations are age appropriate and fun, yet deliver serious messages about personal safety, 陌生人的危险, substance abuse and many other topics.

Tour groups will learn about the equipment police officers use and the responsibilities of the police department. 车站的所有区域, as well as patrol vehicles, will be included in the tour and photos will be allowed in designated areas. Tours last approximately one hour.
